A Message from the Principal

Welcome to Star of the Sea Catholic Primary School, Rockingham.  The staff and I look forward to working in partnership with you. I trust this website will provide you with a wide range of information about our school, its programs, policies and procedures.

Our school is situated in the centre of Rockingham and is easily accessible from the suburbs of Rockingham, Safety Bay, Waikiki, Warnbro, Baldivis, Port Kennedy, Shoalwater Bay, Cooloongup and Leda.

As a West Australian Catholic school we are part of the system of schools supported by Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA).  At the local level we are integral in the life of the local parish of “Our Lady of Lourdes.”  A fundamental role that goes with that is to provide a faith education for the children of the parish school.  We do this by delivering a Religious Education Program using units of work prepared by the Religious Education Section CEWA.  These units are used in all WA Catholic schools.  The core philosophy of the school is based on Gospel values.  Class Masses are conducted on a weekly basis and there are frequent opportunities for the children to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist.

Star of the Sea is a triple stream school catering for children in our 3 year-old Kindergarten through to Year Six.  The Kindergarten programs are part time i.e. Pre-Kindy 3 Year Olds attend one-two full days per week and the Kindy 4 Year Olds attend 3 full days per week.

We recognise parents as the first and most important educators of their children and parents are strongly encouraged to participate fully in the life of the school. There are many opportunities to do this, for example, by way of offering classroom assistance, volunteering in the canteen and being active members of the Parents and Friends’ Association or the School Board.

We have every reason to be proud of the standard of education we offer and this is done in a friendly and caring environment.  Every child is encouraged to reach their full potential through a broad curriculum which covers the areas outlined in the WA National Curriculum.  The curriculum includes tuition in the specialist areas of Science, ICT, PE, LOTE (Indonesian), HASS (History and Social Sciences) and Music.  Support is given to integrating Information and Communication Technology into classrooms across learning areas. There is an instrumental program, a support program for children with learning difficulties and those with special needs.  The school is well resourced and there has been a recent upgrade of computer infrastructure and facilities.  All classes have interactive whiteboards, and there are excellent sporting and playground facilities with a large oval.  Out of School Hours and Vacation Care is available on site.

I invite you to contact us if you want to make enrolment enquiries and to arrange a meeting to discuss being part of this vibrant and successful school.  I trust our partnership will result in your child being happy and successful at Star of the Sea Catholic Primary School.

Kind regards
